Your Learning and Development Record

Helping to have the right workforce with the right skills, in the right place to deliver high quality care

Hear from the people who are already using it

Who is this for?

LaDR has been primarily developed for all nursing, midwifery and allied health professional staff at a hospital Trust or healthcare organisation.

It’s both for you when you join as a newly qualified member of staff: this is called Preceptorship and for you as you progress in your professional role: this is your on-the job competency record.

More on who this is for

It can also be used by these staff as well as by other clinical or non-clinical staff to access induction material, identify learning needs, undertake their online PDR, view training calendars and more.

LaDR is used by practice educators, service area leads and training managers to gather data on learning needs and professional competences across the organisation.

How does it work?

LaDR is built around an intelligent online database that manages the permissions for what you can access and what your mentors or managers can access.

You’ll be assigned your login details either as part of the induction process when you start your new job or by your education team if you are an existing member of staff and it’s been agreed with your service area lead.

More on how it works

You can find out more information about your e-portfolio options, view professional role guidelines and see the training resources available by clicking on the Get Started button in the menu bar.

Once you are familiar with LaDR you can go directly to My Dashboard where you can see the skills and knowledge competences required for your job role. You can reflect on and evidence your progress. You can also document your performance review meetings as part of your annual PDR / appraisal process and learning needs evaluation.

What else should I know?

Your use of LaDR will be agreed between your education team and service leads, so it might not yet be available to you.

There is an Ask a question button at the bottom of this panel. You can click on this to open your preferred email client so that you can send your education and training manager a message if you’d like to know more about LaDR’s roll out in the organisation.

More on what else you should know

LaDR is a secure and encrypted platform that is managed by an NHS health informatics service. It’s back up on an hourly basis to protect your information. The only thing we ask…and you’ll need to sign an IG declaration when you first join…is that you don’t upload any identifiable patient data here. That is for the EPR and not LaDR!

As you’d expect with online services and apps, we are constantly updating and improving the service. So, from time to time, you might see updated views and additional features. We’ll always add a news or announcements blog about this in the layer below this on the website to keep you updated.
